For how expensive the app is it’s not compatible with CarPlay which is what I use when driving so the app doesn’t track the distance when in the car.

I’ve been using Fog of World for over ten years now and love it! It’s such a good way to keep track of your travels
I never signed up for the service and they somehow charged my card. I don’t even know how to delete this. There is no account. Apple needs to remove this app.
I don’t need it to pop up every time saying the app doesn’t have full time access…. I know it doesn’t that’s very by design I don’t go exploring all that often and it would destroy my battery…. Wish it would stop asking
The price is steep I’ll absolutely give you that, but nothing compares if you’re the kind of person that likes to casually browse Google Maps and will go out of their way to try new routes for fun. The app does basically one thing and nothing else, but it does it well. The only missing feature currently is the lack of CarPlay support, but it is what it is.
App works how you expect. There is fog all around you. Move around and uncover it like an old video game. It stays uncovered. Love it. However. A few things I think would not only be easy to implement, but would also increase the QOL greatly. - let user make pins wherever they happen to be, and attach notes/pictures to it. Even if it was as simple as a note/picture attached to a user manually dropped pin at a location. Would be huge. - no reason I can see for orientation to be locked to north I think. Would like to see the pin, your icon while you’re moving, be going and facing the same direction in the app as you are in real life. Like almost all other map applications do. - I think it would be very easy to implement a way to organize and sort your trips by date, or organize and sort them at the very least via when you turned on and off the tracking. Meaning I wanna see not only my entire map, but have the option to see what I drove, say, yesterday, stand out from the rest of the tracking data. Other than those small issues. It’s a great fun app and I think what you can get out of it justifies the price tag if you are the type of person to consistently use it. However, I also think to do to that price tag, that users should have a decent say in what goes on in the app. I e, I would like to hear back about my suggestions! Thanks for reading!
Fantastic app and tracker. Comes with a set of challenges that you don’t see unless you want them. This app promotes exploring the world more and I love it. I walk or drive on streets I seldom travel. I learned more of my area and have seen really cool things I wouldn’t have otherwise! The privacy is also fantastic because I don’t like the free app that sell your location and data. Everything is hosted locally on your phone
I am mesmerized by this app to track where I’ve been. My kids always know that we have to “turn the unfogger on” before we start a car trip and it’s even more cool to track my path when traveling internationally
I downloaded this only about two months ago and I have to say, this has quickly become my favorite app. The relatively high price tag on the app is entirely worth it without a second thought. The app makes it worth it to find an alternate route to a place you drive all the time, or makes it worth it to just take a quick drive down a street in your city you never explored, and even makes it even more worth it to travel to a new place you’ve never been before. I think the next big steps in this app are definitely in the form of adding more information in regards to specific territories within countries, i.e. being able to check the percentage of exploration in a US state or Canadian province. Incredible app and worth every penny.
I love this app. I have had it for years, and it has been flawless. I love that I can import GPX files. I love that it tracks in the background. I love that it no longer eats up battery power the way it did 10 years ago. It’s fantastic. However I recently lost my phone and I’ve had a devil of a time getting it reinstalled and updated on my new phone. I can see sync files in my cloud storage dating back one year three years seven years 10 years… But the track in the app is definitely incomplete, there is no help or support section available if you run into problems like this.
I love everything about this, from an avid gamer to and avid explorer. I’ve used this app worldwide. It drives me to explore the uncharted path and enjoy the experiences along the way. Would highly reccomend!
Oh darn, the only thing missing is a synch with the Apple Watch… I haven’t been taking my iPhone on bike rides thinking there’s be a synch. Please consider.
Been using Fog of the World for about a Decade. It’s great to see where I’ve been and it triggers memories that I would have otherwise never remembered without the trigger.
Had this app for 8 years or so? Love it and love the new features they keep putting into it. Absolutely been worth every penny. The ONLY quibble I have is that the constant GPS checking seems to really impact battery life, and there’s no way to turn it off other than manually. PLEASE add shortcuts/automation support to turn on/off tracking!
This App made my life richer. I can't stop exploring new places!! One thing. Please add an eraser function. Few days ago, I forgot to turn off the recording while I was on the plane and the line made look really ugly. With this function, this App is going to be with SIX stars!!
I love this app and have been addicted for the past few months. I’ve been using programs on my computer to add past trips and it’s so much fun. I would love if a few more features were added, including regions of countries! For instance, I’d love to be able to see my explored area in square kilometers and percentage traveled in each of the 50 US states, Canadian provinces, Australian territories, etc. A bit more detailed information about there you’ve been would be great, including a way to view a list of your top countries ranked from most-visited to least-visited, maybe a list of the cities you’ve traveled to (if you made it within city boundaries on the map, it would count on your list), and maybe an additional page on the app that has a general checklist of popular sights/attractions around the world - if you visit one, it would check off on your list. I also would really appreciate a way to erase areas of your map - like an eraser tool or something. Many times I’m traveling and the GPS messes up and it’s very annoying having to import my tracks to my computer to fix them. More ways to fix/edit tracks would be awesome!! All in all, an amazing app and I will continue using it for many years to come!!!
Since the most recent update this app has been absolutely sucking my battery dry. I lost 30% overnight, I went to bed with my phone at 100% and woke up at 69%. That’s ridiculous.
I never write reviews. This is my favorite app of all time. No other app has affected my real world behavior more than this one.
Nice app. But it drains 60-70% of my battery within a few hours of use even with the most battery saving drawing option on.
Love the app, I just wish that I could edit or delete or add tracks
I’ve been using this app for about 2 years now. It’s amazing and I love the fact that you can store the map data in a storage of your choice such as Google Drive, DropBox, locally on your phone etc…
I can go on about how I like it. It’s a great app and I’d buy it again. I absolutely love it. My too 5 apps I have fr.
Please read the entire review! This app is great and one-of-a-kind: any similar apps in terms if tracking require a subscription fee that is simply not worth it. Yes, a $30 price is expensive at first, but it is absolutely worth it. As someone who travels VERY often, it’s so cool to be able to see everywhere I visit. I’ve been using the app for 6 months now, and can speak on its functionality. I would say the cons are as follows: phone battery drain will be noticeable (I lose ~10% through FOW on a 14 Pro Max), if you forget to load the app every once in a while tracking will stop, and it is difficult to remove unwanted tracks. However, it needs to be taken into account that this app is 15 years old (meaning it has a history and is unlikely to be deleted). Furthermore, there are external websites and tools to delete unwanted lines (or add if you want). At the end of the day, it comes down to this: if you are interested in seeing your map fill up, it’s worth it. Whenever I go for a drive, boat ride, or hike, I am always conscious of not only tracking potentially new lines, but exploring new places and seeing new sights! If you have $30 to spend, it’s better than any game you will ever play as an adult!
S’alright
The app is never properly syncing. I’d say it’s correctly logged 25% of my actual travel data. Great in concept but poor execution.
My partner and I use this app and enjoy it for what it is, but it needs stops tracking every couple days. We always have to turn off the tracking and turn back on. As a result we end up with really spotty data. It also drains the phone battery, but that’s to be expected as it constantly pings the gps.
This app is pretty cool. It lets you know where you travel, I think it's interesting just to see what roads I DON'T drive on. It shows what parts of town i go through, and where i avoid. I think $5 is a bit much, but I bought it anyway because whatever, someone gave me a credit card.
添加一個軌跡擦除功能,用於擦除由於GPS不穩定導致的軌跡飄移部分。
I love Fog of World and have been using it since 2015. But the current version is consuming an unacceptable amount of my phone’s battery. In the past 24 hours, iOS reports that Fog of World is the biggest consumer of power on my phone, totaling +35% of the total battery usage using background location services. iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 17.3
My thoughts after using Fog of World for 12 years: (these are supposed to be bulleted lists, sorry if Apple messes up the formatting) Pros - Good at what it does - Offers backup options (caveat below) - Looks good - Encourages me to explore and take alternate routes - Beyond the cool/fun factor, I *frequently* make use of this app to see where I’ve been for practical reasons! - I’ve looked and found no other app that accomplishes the same thing even half as well Cons - Price tag is more than most iOS apps - Data is locked in a proprietary format and cannot be extracted! If this app ever gets abandoned and breaks on newer devices, there is no way to rescue your data - Battery usage is noticeable (but fairly well optimized) Overall, I highly recommend getting and using an app like this! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend *this* one, but I’m not aware of any others that are even slightly competent.
今天想把多年的足迹导入其他的软件。竟然发现没办法导出csv或者其他通用的格式,真的崩溃了😫
I love this app for exploring. I ran a marathon and it’s amazing for finding new places to run
I love this app. It’s sort of useless on the surface, but it’s really fun to use and to uncover areas where you’ve never been. Ive had it for 5 years and use it daily.
I usually don’t write reviews but I love this app so much! I’ve been using it for years now and it has gone from a fun game for me to unlock areas to much more than that. I still enjoy it as a game but also use it to navigate roads I don’t use much.
Very nice
Seriously the amount of times this thing just doesn’t track your movements it’s ridiculous. I have everything set up in setting to run in the background so I don’t have to open the appAnd unless you plan on recalibrating it every single time you move it won’t map your movements. $30 for an app on a phone and it better work perfect and this thing isn’t even close. Huge SCAM. I travel a lot for work and thought this was going to be awesome. You’re better off just getting one of the free app or pay for pin traveler. This thing is worth $1 maybe $2 at the most. Even when you leave the app running in the background you will still have to physically go into the app every time you stop moving and start again.
I really think fog of world should add a social aspect to the app, so I can see what level friends my friends are at and a widget feature would also be cool to have. Overall not worth 30 bucks because of the lack of features but still a really fun and great app.
I’ve used this for more than 6 years and I love it. I travel a lot with friends and family and we are always competing who gets the high level and where they’ve been. It’s a really fun app.
This is the single best app for the iPhone. Period.
The new start recording button is the worst UI design I’ve seen.
I have never enjoyed, loved, used, looked at, or played with an app more than this one!! I am so freaking obsessed with this app it’s not even funny. I constantly check to to make sure I’m going down new roads!! But can we please please please please please get an in app “erase” option??? Sometimes my GPS glitches and I’ll have random dots in places I haven’t been or it’ll think I’m going down a road until it relocates me and puts me back on the right path. I’d love to be able to clean up little glitches!!!
之前不知道有这款APP,现在发现很好使用,不过好像对手机信号的要求比较高
Been using FotW for about 10-ish years. It remains as functional as ever but the new UI, specifically the badges, is poorly designed. The previous UI very clearly showed your progress toward unlocking a badge without tapping on each individual one. Now, as far as I can tell, there is no indicator of progress for the badges. Additionally, both earned and unearned badges are displayed together making it impossible to tell which ones you actually have. As far as I’m concerned, removing the badges altogether would have been less frustrating than the awful replacement they now have. Returning the badges to a better state would get a better review from me.
Love it so fun but really needs an Apple Watch version so can track your unfogging without always needing phone if you can have it (runs, bike, sailing, etc)
I’ve been using fog of world for only a few months now but it’s a big part of my day. Uncovering the map is addicting and makes me want to explore my surroundings. The algorithm used to smooth and connect the data works wonderfully. The price is a no brainer for the feature set and privacy focused experience.
I really enjoy filling out the map. Like a little video game. If you travel or have some type of delivery job it’s a great way to track the places you’ve visited
I’ve had this app for years and it’s very cool, but for the last few weeks it’s been crashing constantly. Hopefully they can find the issue and correct it.
I was turned on to this app in 2018 by a friend, & it was really cool to see my progression through all the roads & neighborhoods I had been to. The app was great up until a recent major overhaul of the interface. It is now confusing to use, & even after the most recent update I kept having to rebuild the database as it crashed, which lost a large chunk of my last adventure each time. Now it lost everything today, & 5 years of data is gone just like that. Not happy at all with how downhill it’s gone.
I love seeing my tracks across the country. But I miss the blue dot that lets me know where my current location is. Just makes it hard to find where I am on the map at times.
